Positive Energy Solar provided design and installation of the 1.5MW turnkey solar electric system offsetting 100% of peak load and over 20% of off-peak loads. SunPower modules were selected for their high efficiency, superior warranty and vendor bankability. The fixed tilt array is designed to provide optimum power generation and financial benefit.
“The BDD Board mandated several years ago that green power should be a component to our sustainable drinking water project,” states Rick Carpenter, project manager for the City of Santa Fe.
The project is funded by New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) and will generate a net benefit of over $4.5M for the City and County of Santa Fe.
NMFA funded the project through the Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund. Some of the funding is likely to be a grant, which adds to the positive economic impact of the project. Ryan Helton, NMFA senior program administrator says, “It’s refreshing to see municipalities put together a deal of this stature that will provide so many benefits to their constituents.”
