This year our operations resulted in more than 41,000 meals made possible for New Mexicans utilizing Storehouse New Mexico and the Santa Fe Food Depot’s services! In 2023, we began donating up to 100 meals to Storehouse New Mexico for every system that we install. In 2024, we decided to divide our efforts by region so that we could take action on hunger in every region that we serve. This resulted in us donating approximately 80 meals to the Santa Fe Food Depot as well for every system installed in Santa Fe. Food Insecurity is not always visible in New Mexico, but did you know that 1 in 7 New Mexicans and 1 in 5 NM children face hunger? How does solar energy relate to the issue of food insecurity? The most obvious answer is that clean energy, like solar, reduces utility costs for households. When families spend less on utilities, they have more resources available to buy food. In rural and underserved communities, families often lack access to reliable energy sources creating energy insecurity. Energy insecurity and food insecurity go hand in hand. Without energy access, it is impossible to cook or refrigerate food. Clean energy resolves this issue and does so sustainably thereby improving food preservation, preparation, and well-being. Solar creates jobs in local communities. The clean energy sector is one of the fastestgrowing industries today. Abundant training opportunities help employees work their way up in a sustainable and growing industry. Jobs in the clean energy sector provide an opportunity for workers to experience financial stability as well as career growth which offers greater food security for families.
