About Us At Positive Energy Solar, it is our vision to be New Mexico’s most trusted, qualified, and reliable solar energy provider, recognized by the quality of our work as well as our focus on a customer, employee, and community-centered approach. With a triple bottom line that places People, Planet, and Profit on equal footing, we ensure that every project we take on benefits not only our customers but also our neighbors and our environment. Through an unwavering commitment to quality, we strive to do the right thing for our customers and community, reinforcing our dedication to integrity and excellence. We are in this business for the long term—satisfying customers, developing and retaining employees, contributing to our community, and sharing ownership with our team. Partnering with dozens of nonprofit organizations and engaging in targeted community outreach, we help build strong, sustainable communities while driving social and environmental betterment across New Mexico. Every day, we generate positive energy by fostering equity and investing in the communities we live and serve in, paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for all of us.
In 2024 we became a Benefit Corporation for Good! Since our founding in 1997, Positive Energy Solar has operated with a triple bottom line of People, Planet, and Profit ensuring our business benefits the communities we serve, the environment we depend on, and the employees who make it all possible. In 2013, we became a Certified B Corporation to hold ourselves accountable to these values. While New Mexico had not yet recognized Benefit Corporations at the time, the law was finally adopted in 2020. After thoughtful evaluation and stakeholder input, in 2024, we transitioned to third-party verification under Benefit Corporations for Good (BCFG)—a legal certification that aligns more closely with our mission. What This Means for our Customers: We are still the same employee-owned, values-driven, local business you know and trust. Our commitment to clean energy, sustainability, and community engagement remains stronger than ever. As New Mexico’s only Benefit Corporation in the solar industry, we’ve legally cemented our mission to create lasting, positive change. Together, we’re building a cleaner, more sustainable future for New Mexico— one solar installation at a time.
411 Our Mission: To empower New Mexico communities to live more sustainably through solar energy solutions while modeling equitable, responsible business practices. Families served through Residential Solar installed between both our Residential and Commercial Units 5,202 kW 3,600,000 lbs CO2 offset by 2024 installations for the first year of operations (1) 75.95 kW Recycled through WeRecycle Click to check out our blog on Solar Panel Recycling! The environmental impact of our installations is approximately equivalent to: the carbon offset of 160,0000 trees in a year (1) Estimate from carbon intensity filed by PNM, NMPRC Docket 23-00409-UT
The Value of Solar Panel Recycling: In 2024, we recycled 238 solar modules! The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) projects that by 2050, up to 78 million metric tons of solar panels will reach the end of their life cycle, generating around 6 million metric tons of solar e-waste annually. The good news? Solar panels can be recycled and Positive Energy Solar is committed to ensuring that ours are. PES continues to explore sustainable solutions for retired solar equipment, guided by our commitment to people, planet, and profit. Beyond the environmental benefits, solar panel recycling holds economic potential as well. PV cells contain valuable, finite elements like gallium and indium, essential for manufacturing. By recovering these materials, we help conserve critical resources while also supporting a growing industry. IRENA estimates that by 2050, approximately $15 billion in reusable materials could be recovered through solar panel recycling; that’s an investment in a cleaner and more sustainable future. We partner with WeRecycle, the largest U.S. solar panel recycler to process our panels when they reach the end of their useful lifespan, though most of our systems in the last 27 years are still under warranty. When panels have minor cosmetic damage but remain functional, we minimize waste by offering them at a discount to our team.

The year in service Service Team Members 12 Customers Serviced 900 Years of combined experience 85 At Positive Energy Solar, we have 12 technicians dedicated to providing the best service in the state of New Mexico. Our service department mostly services systems installed by other companies; however, we always prioritize our Positive Energy Solar customers in the unlikely event that an issue arises. Most of the time, solar electric systems operate just fine without service requirements for 30 years. However, like all mechanical and electrical devices, they can require service. If that happens, you want to feel confident that your significant investment will be taken care of and that you have a positive experience. This year our team took on several projects servicing systems orphaned by multiple New Mexico solar companies that closed their doors. We stepped in to remedy situations where customers felt left behind, to bring them to the Positive side of going solar. Non-PES Systems Serviced 314
EV Chargers Approximate lbs of CO2 avoided in a single year compared to gas vehicles 453,384 Trees’ worth of CO2 offset 8,226 As part of our strategic efforts to diversify revenue streams and meet growing consumer demand for sustainability, Positive Energy Solar has expanded its services to include EV charging installations for solar customers. By integrating clean energy solutions with electric vehicle charging, we empower our customers to fully embrace home electrification and solarization. This allows them to run their clean cars on clean solar energy, maximizing energy independence and reducing their carbon footprint. Below are a few metrics showcasing the savings that we enable to our customers.
Solar + Battery Storage Families provided energy security 41 Batteries installed 74 Kilowatt-hours of storage capacity 2,118 Solar energy is a powerful tool for reducing reliance on fossil fuels, but without storage, without storage, excess energy generated during the day doesn't get utilized as efficiently on site. By integrating battery storage, our customers can take full advantage of the solar energy they produce by drawing from stored power at night or during grid outages. Battery storage ensures that our customers remain in control of their energy, no longer dependent on unpredictable utility rates or vulnerable to power disruptions. Whether it’s keeping the lights on during a blackout or maximizing self-consumption of solar energy, storage solutions provide greater energy resilience. Beyond individual benefits, battery storage strengthens grid resiliency for our communities. By reducing strain on the grid during peak demand and supporting a more stable, distributed energy system, our customers are part of the movement toward a more reliable and sustainable future. With solar and storage, our customers aren’t just energy consumers, they are energy-empowered.
This year our operations resulted in more than 41,000 meals made possible for New Mexicans utilizing Storehouse New Mexico and the Santa Fe Food Depot’s services! In 2023, we began donating up to 100 meals to Storehouse New Mexico for every system that we install. In 2024, we decided to divide our efforts by region so that we could take action on hunger in every region that we serve. This resulted in us donating approximately 80 meals to the Santa Fe Food Depot as well for every system installed in Santa Fe. Food Insecurity is not always visible in New Mexico, but did you know that 1 in 7 New Mexicans and 1 in 5 NM children face hunger? How does solar energy relate to the issue of food insecurity? The most obvious answer is that clean energy, like solar, reduces utility costs for households. When families spend less on utilities, they have more resources available to buy food. In rural and underserved communities, families often lack access to reliable energy sources creating energy insecurity. Energy insecurity and food insecurity go hand in hand. Without energy access, it is impossible to cook or refrigerate food. Clean energy resolves this issue and does so sustainably thereby improving food preservation, preparation, and well-being. Solar creates jobs in local communities. The clean energy sector is one of the fastestgrowing industries today. Abundant training opportunities help employees work their way up in a sustainable and growing industry. Jobs in the clean energy sector provide an opportunity for workers to experience financial stability as well as career growth which offers greater food security for families.
Getting Hands-On With Volunteering! Our team this year got hands-on in volunteering with several local nonprofit organizations benefiting causes from keeping our waterways clean, housing New Mexicans in need of shelter, and putting together food packages for families at local pantries. This year, volunteer time became even more mutually beneficial as we successfully implemented paid volunteer time for our team members to utilize. Project of the Year: Dine College Diné College, located in Tsaile, Arizona, serves the Navajo Nation by offering programs dedicated to advancing the economic, political, environmental, and social development of the Navajo people. As the first tribally controlled and accredited collegiate institution in the U.S., the college embodies a profound commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, values deeply rooted in Navajo culture. Positive Energy Solar was honored to collaborate with Diné College and Yearout Energy on a transformative project that underscored this commitment. We constructed a 1.002 MW Single Tracker Solar Energy System that significantly enhances the college’s sustainability initiatives. This state-of-the-art system is more than just a clean energy source; it is a testament to the college’s leadership in environmental responsibility and its vision for a sustainable future. The impact of this project is profound. Over the next 25 years, the system will reduce Diné College’s CO2 emissions by an estimated 69,874,121 pounds. To put this into perspective, this reduction is equivalent to: Planting 8,663 acres of trees Removing 6,092 vehicles from the road 29,114,217 pounds of coal not burned This solar energy project is a tangible expression of Positive Energy Solar’s mission to empower communities with renewable energy solutions while contributing to a healthier planet. We are proud to support Diné College's efforts to lead the way in sustainable energy practices, ensuring a lasting positive impact on the Navajo Nation and beyond.
Community Highlight: A Stage Set for Sustainability: Solar-Powered Performances at Tumbleroot Brewery At Positive Energy Solar, we’re always looking for creative ways to bring solar power to the community. When Tumbleroot Brewery in Santa Fe wanted a sustainable solution to power their outdoor stage, we saw an opportunity to turn their live performances into a showcase for renewable energy. The challenge? The stage covering couldn’t support solar panels. But that didn’t stop us. Thinking outside the box (literally) we mounted a 425-watt solar panel onto Tumbleroot’s stationary food truck. The power is routed to a solar portable power station, secured inside a metal lockbox next to the stage. Now, musicians and performers can simply plug in and play with 100% solar energy—no noisy generators, no fossil fuels, just pure sunshine. This project is a testament to what’s possible when sustainability meets innovation. By finding a creative way to integrate solar into Tumbleroot’s venue, we’ve helped amplify local artists while reducing the venue’s carbon footprint. Live music, powered by the sun — what could be better?
We were awarded Santa Fe Business of the Year! We were honored to be recognized as the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Business of the Year,’ an award presented to us by Mayor Alan Webber, who commended the incredible work we do and the example we set as an employee-owned Benefit Corporation. This prestigious recognition highlights the positive impact we make in our community and speaks volumes about our commitment to an impact-driven business model. By fostering equity through employee ownership, we not only build a stronger organization but also empower our team to play an active role in the communities we live in and serve.
