We wanted to address some recent news: the solar panel manufacturer SunPower Corp. has filed for bankruptcy. When Positive Energy Solar initially installed SunPower products, the company had over two billion dollars in equity and was renowned for manufacturing the most efficient and highest quality solar panels available. At that time, SunPower was majority controlled by Total Energy, one of the largest energy companies in the world.

However, around 2017, advancements in technology allowed other premium module manufacturers to significantly improve the quality and efficiency of their products, offering comparable performance at a much lower cost. Recognizing this shift, we transitioned to bring on additional premium brands of modules in 2018 to ensure we continued providing the best value for our customers. It appears that SunPower struggled to reduce the manufacturing costs of their unique technology, which impacted their competitiveness.

We want to reassure you that Positive Energy Solar is in a strong position. Each year, our Company has an independent CPA review of our financial statements in order to maintain bonding capacity, third party customer financing, and an unused bank line of credit.
